New Paltz freshman outside hitter Tim Ferriter averaged 3.00 kills per set and posted a hitting percentage of .353, leading the Hawks to a 5-0 week that included three wins over teams ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division III Men’s Coaches Top-15 Preseason Poll (No. 14 Hunter College, the No. 9 Massachusetts Institute of Technology and No. 7 Rivier College). For his play at the Live Free or Die Invitational, he was named to the All-Tournament Team. He also averaged 1.24 digs per set, 0.29 service aces per set and 0.24 blocks per set, and he competed in 17 total sets. Ferriter’s most prolific offensive performance came against No. 7 Rivier College on Sunday, as he floored 13 kills and hit at a .478 clip. Against Hunter College on Wednesday, he registered a near-perfect .833 hitting percentage, landing 10 kills in 12 total attempts with no errors.
