NYU’s Alex Li has been named the UVC’s first Rookie of the Week of the 2017 campaign after a pair of double-digit kill performances to open his collegiate career. Li made his collegiate debut against Benedictine on January 14th and floored 12 kills to go along with four digs, two blocks, and one service ace. Then in NYU’s five-set upset win over No. 4 nationally-ranked Carthage, the West Coast native produced his first career double-double with a match-high 28 kills and 10 digs; the 28-kill performance was the first by a NYU freshman since Chase Klein racked up 30 in his debut season in 2014. In the win over the Red Men, Li logged an efficient .489 attack percentage on a 28k-6e-45ta stat line.
