Rookie setter Matthew Grace played an integral role for second-ranked New Paltz, as the Hawks pick up three wins at this past weekend’s Juniata Tournament. The Holbrook, New York, native racked up 117 assists for an impressive per-set average of 10.64. He opened the tournament with a 31-assist performance against Thiel, before dishing out 34 dimes against Wittenberg, both of which resulted in straight-set victories for the Hawks. Then in the tournament finale, Grace logged a career-high 52 assists to help New Paltz erase a two-sets-to-none deficit and earn a five-set comeback win over No. 15 Juniata, the Hawks’ second nationally-ranked victory this season.
