Nick Smith set the program record for SUNY New Paltz for kills in a four-set match by racking up 30 kills against St. Joseph's College (LI) with an impressive .553 hitting percentage as well. In addition to breaking the record that stood since 2003, before this past week the NCAA leader for kills in a four-set belonged to Nate Miller of Lancaster Bible College with 29, so Smith will look to take over that top spot. Immediately following the record-setting performance Smith and the Hawks got right back on the court against Emmanuel College and Smith recorded double-digit kills for the third time this week with 10 kills and two errors on 20 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage. Earlier in the week Smith notched a match-high 15 kills against UVC opponent, the Sage Colleges. Smith's dominant offensive performances totaled 55 kills on 89 attempts with only 10 errors for a .506 hitting percentage and helped the Hawks to a 3-0 week and pushed their win streak to four straight games.
