Player of the Week – MIT
Thomas Nelson, Sophomore, Libero – San Ramon, CA/Dougherty Valley
MIT sophomore libero Thomas Nelson aided the Engineers to a 3-0 week which featured two wins against nationally-ranked opponents in No. 13 Wentworth and No. 14 Eastern Mennonite. Nelson registered 56 digs over his three matches which included a career-high 28 digs in a five-set win over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday. Not only were his 28 digs against the Royals a career-high, but it was just three shy of breaking the program record for most digs in a single match. In the front end of the tri-match against Lasell he tallied 13 digs making his total 41 on the day. Nelson's defense also helped the Engineers in holding their three opponents to a combined .162 hitting percentage (141-76-401).
