Nguyen led NYU to a 2-1 record in its opening weekend of the season out in California. Playing in his first three collegiate matches, Nguyen dished out 130 assists to go along with 25 digs, five blocks, four kills and a pair of service aces. He averaged 10.0 assists and 1.9 digs per set, as NYU defeated No. 19 UC Santa Cruz and No. 8 Carthage before falling to No. 6 Cal Lutheran. Nguyen had 48 assists, eight digs and three kills against Cal Lutheran on Sunday.
