Sappia led Hobart to an impressive 2-1 weekend in the Statesmen Volleyball Classic, defeating No. 16 Misericordia in three sets and No. 18 Baldwin Wallace in four sets, before falling to No. 1 Wentworth in three sets. The two wins were Hobart's first ranked wins in program history. Through three matches, Sappia recorded 26 kills, 14 digs, and six service aces. He averaged 2.60 kills per set, 1.40 digs per set, 0.60 aces per set, 0.40 assists per set, and 3.30 points per set. Sappia's best performance of the weekend came against the 18th ranked Yellow Jackets, where he put down 11 kills and added seven digs, two aces, one block and one assist. It is Sappia’s second UVC weekly accolade of the season.
