Hobart's Andrew Kim and Zach Knudsen of NYU Repeat as 2024-25 CSC Academic All-America At-Large Selections

Graduate student Andrew Kim of Hobart College and senior Zach Knudsen of NYU were named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® At-Large NCAA Division III Team, which recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Both Kim and Knudsen were second team selections.
 
The 2024-25 Academic All-America® At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. In order to be eligible for both All-District and All-American consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, hold a 3.30 cumulative GPA or above and be a starter or important reserve for their respective teams.
 
Knudsen, who previously earned 2023-24 CSC Academic All-America third team honors, recorded a tremendous 3.80 grade-point average as a business major. Knudsen, a three-time UVC Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year, enjoyed a tremendous season for the Violets, who finished 26-1, won their second straight UVC Championship and advanced to the NCAA National Quarterfinals. A native of Carlsbad, CA, Knudsen, a senior led NYU in digs (191) and digs per set (2.22) and  ranked fifth in the UVC for digs per set. He has 768 digs in four seasons and was a two-time All-UVC second team pick. He earned 2025 AVCA First Team All-American honors.

Kim, a native of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, also previously earned 2022-23 CSC Academic All-America third team honors and has a 4.0 graduate graduate grade-point average as a higher education leadership and mathematics major.

Ealier this spring, Kim became the first player in Division III history to be named a five-time AVCA All-American. He garnered First Team All-America honors in both 2021, 2022 and 2023 while with Vassar and the last two seasons with Hobart. In addition, he was named the 2023 AVCA Player of the Year. Kim garnered his fourth AVCA Region II Player of the Year honor (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025) and earned AVCA All-Region accolades for the fifth straight season.

Kim, the NCAA Division III all-time leader with 1,828 career kills, enjoyed a tremendous season for the Statesmen, as he led the UVC and is third nationally with 4.63 kills per set and second in all of Division III with 5.45 points per set. Kim recorded at least 10 kills in a match 18 times this season, including five 20-plus kill efforts. Kim, a two-time UVC Player of the Week, was also the AVCA Division III National Player of the Week on Feb. 16. 

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
