Below are the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Players of the Week, released on Jan. 20, 2020 for games played from Jan. 14-Jan. 19. It is the first UVC weekly honors release of the 2020 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Neil Ferraro, NYU, Sr., MB/OPP, Newton, MA/Xaverian Brothers
Ferraro led No. 13 NYU to three road victories in California. Competing at the Cal Lutheran University Invitational in Thousand Oaks, CA, Ferraro produced double-digit kills in all three matches, recording 11, 11 and 13, respectively, while hitting .368, .600 and .500 in those contests. He also averaged five blocks per match, added five digs and a service ace. One of the wins came against No. 8 ranked UC Santa Cruz.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Gavin van Beveren, Vassar, Fr., MB, Alpharetta, GA/Chattanhoochee
Gavin van Beveren had a stellar collegiate debut in Vassar's 2-2 week. He totaled 38 kills on 70 attacks for a .386 hitting percentage. He also had 18 block assists, two solo blocks, seven digs, and three service aces. Van Beveren opened with nine kills against UC San Diego and then had eight against California Lutheran. The freshman picked up the pace against No. 8 UC Santa Cruz, leading the team with 13 kills on 19 attacks (47.4 percent) and helped the Brewers with ten block assists. He closed the week with eight kills against Fontbonne.

The United Volleyball Conference (UVC) is a volleyball-specific conference that features nine member institutions. The conference was founded in 2010 and began play in January of 2011.
