Below are the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Players of the Week, released on February 28, 2022, for matches played from February 21-February 27. It is the seventh UVC weekly honors release of the 2022 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Pat Wing, New Paltz, Jr., MB, Massapequa, NY/Massapequa
Wing led New Paltz to a decisive three-set sweep of No. 13 St. John Fisher Saturday, slamming 15 kills on 19 attempts to hit at a remarkable .684 clip on the day, while scoring a team-leading 18 points. He also led his team in blocks with three and notched an assist in the victory, all while scoring the set-winning point in each set with kills at set and match point during the first and third sets and an ace to solidify the second set for the Hawks.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Payne Lounsbery, Vassar, Fr., OH, Long Beach, CA/Woodrow Wilson
Lounsbery totaled 18 kills, three aces, six digs, and three blocks in Vassar's 2-1 week. Against nationally-ranked NYU on Friday, Lounsbery sent in five kills with four digs and two total blocks. He tacked on 11 kills in a tight five-set loss to No. 1 Springfield on Saturday. He added one ace, two digs, and one block. Lounsbery played one set against Illinois Tech and added two kills and two aces.
