Below are the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Players of the Week, released on March 28, 2022, for matches played from March 21-March 27. It is the tenth UVC weekly honors release of the 2022 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Chris Shanley, New Paltz, Sr., OH, Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West
Shanley was the offensive catalyst for the Hawks as they won a pair of crucial UVC matches this week. He recorded a career-high 20 kills in a five-set win on the road over NYU Wednesday, hitting at a .333 clip, while adding an assist, ace and a block to compile a career- and team-leading 21.5 points to lead the Hawks. He backed up that performance against No. 8 Vassar on Saturday, totaling a team-high 13 kills, while adding an ace and a block to help his team to a four-set win and keeping SUNY New Paltz undefeated in the UVC and atop conference standings in prime position to earn the top seed in the postseason tournament.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Josh Weaver, Nazareth, Fr., S/RS, Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa
Weaver finished with eight kills and a pair of blocks in a three-set win over MIT on Saturday that clinched a postseason berth for the Golden Flyers.
