Nazareth Earns Pair of Road Wins

CHESTER, PA - Nazareth Men's Volleyball (9-9, 0-1)earned a pair of road victories on Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center, defeating Widener (6-10), 3-1, before closing the day with a 3-1 win over Drew (9-9). 

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1: 

  • Nazareth jumped out early in the opening set behind attacking from Quinn Ringstad and Ryan Murphy, building separation midway through the frame before closing out a 25-18 win.

  • The Golden Flyers carried that momentum into the second set, using balanced offense and service pressure from AJ Burda and Joe Seliger to secure a 25-20 advantage and a 2-0 lead. 

  • Widener responded in the third set, capitalizing on a late surge to edge Nazareth, 25-23.

  • But, Nazareth regrouped in the fourth, riding kills from Murphy and Sean Frawley while Burda directed the offense to a 25-23 set victory, sealing the match, 3-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2: 

  • Nazareth opened the afternoon's second contest with string side-out play, taking the first two sets by identical 25-19 and 25-21 scores.

  • Drew answered in the third, stringing together points behind steady attacking to pull out a 25-16 decision.

  • In the decisive fourth set, Nazareth reasserted control early. Quintin Chiles and Ringstad finished key swings down the stretch, while the Golden Flyers limited Drew's opportunities at the net to close the match with a 25-20 win. 

GAME NOTES: 

  • Burda totaled 41 assists, 21 kills, seven service aces, and 13 digs across the two matches.
     

  • Murphy recorded 20 kills on the day and added four service aces.
     

  • Ringstad hit an efficient .857 against Widener and finished with 13 kills overall.
     

  • Frawley chipped in 20 kills on the afternoon, including a team-high 13 versus Widener.
     

  • Nazareth hit .256 against Widener and .241 against Drew as a team.
