NEW YORK, NY - The
#7-ranked New York University men's volleyball team completed a senior day sweep against Nazareth University on Sunday, March 15, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan. Prior to the game, the Violets honored three seniors for their contributions to the program. In a pre-game ceremony Angus Ebeling, Jerry Feng, and Jake Upham were recognized. The Violets won each set by scores of 27-25, 25-17, 26-24.
Despite the first set going back-and-forth, with 14 ties, the Violets edged out the win. Five straight points with blocks from Cade Miller and Feng gave NYU a 15-10 advantage. Nazareth battled back tying the set at 25-25, but a kill from Ebeling secured the first set.
NYU fell behind in the second set, 5-4, before recording back-to-back blocks and a kill to take the lead with an 8-1 point run. Kills by Charlie Clifford, Emerson Evans, and Angus Ebeling sealed the win.
The Violets went up 3-0 in the final set and held onto the lead until the Golder Flyers tied it, 23-23. A kill from Feng and a service ace from Veer Agarwal helped the Violets edge out the third set.
Feng led the Violets with nine kills and two aces. Agarwal, Feng, and Miller each notched five blocks. Additionally, Devyn Nguyen added 23 assists on the day.
The Violets return to the court to take on #8-ranked SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday, March 25, at 7:00 pm at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
